Data Deletion Instructions

Delete your TheShortener account

If you can sign in to your account:

  1. Open Account Settings.
  2. Scroll to Delete your account.
  3. Select Delete Permanently.
  4. Enter your account password when prompted and confirm the deletion.

Account deletion is permanent. It can make your short links, QR codes, profile pages, and related service records unavailable. Save anything you need before confirming.

If you normally sign in with Google, X, or Facebook and do not know an account password, open Account Settings and set a password first when that option is available. Then use the deletion steps above. Removing TheShortener from a provider's connected-app settings only disconnects that login; it does not delete your TheShortener account.

If you cannot sign in or confirm your password

Email [email protected] from the email address associated with the account and ask for account deletion assistance. Include the account email and enough information for us to verify ownership. Do not send a password, API key, access token, cookie, or payment-card details. We may ask for additional verification before processing an account-specific request.

Shopify app data

If you use TheShortener Links for Shopify:

  • Uninstalling the app disconnects the app and removes active Shopify authentication sessions through the app's uninstall process.
  • To request deletion of shop-scoped app data or app-created assets, email [email protected] and include the Shopify shop domain.
  • Deleting an app-created short link or QR asset can make its destination stop working, including a QR code that has already been printed.

Uninstalling the app is not automatically a request to delete an independent TheShortener account or unrelated links. Shopify redaction and the separate TheShortener deletion process may apply to different records.

What deletion removes and what may remain

The account-deletion workflow removes the account and associated primary TheShortener records it can identify, which may include links, QR records, analytics, profiles, integrations, API keys, and subscription associations. Paid subscriptions are canceled as part of account termination where applicable. Generated files and records held by third-party providers may follow a separate storage lifecycle.

Security and operational logs, fraud-prevention records, payment or tax records where applicable, legal records, and limited backup copies may remain for the period needed for security, disputes, legal compliance, accounting, or recovery. They are not retained for unrelated advertising.
