Terms and Conditions

Last updated: August 31, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of TheShortener and its related websites, applications, APIs, browser extensions, and integrations. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

TheShortener provides URL shortening, link management, branded links, QR codes, bio links, file-link features, analytics, API access, browser extensions, and related integrations, including TheShortener Links for Shopify.

Features, limits, availability, and requirements may vary by plan, account, integration, and service configuration. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, or improve the Service.

2. Accounts and authentication

Some features require an account. Depending on the options enabled for the Service, you may register or sign in with an email address, Google, X, or Facebook. You are responsible for keeping your account information and login credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account.

Do not share passwords, API keys, access tokens, or session credentials. Tell us promptly if you believe your account or credentials have been compromised. Third-party sign-in is also subject to the applicable provider's terms and privacy policy.

3. Your content and links

You are responsible for the URLs, files, text, images, profile information, QR destinations, and other content that you submit, publish, or make available through the Service. You must have the rights, permissions, and lawful basis needed to use that content and to direct visitors to each destination.

You retain your rights in your content. You grant TheShortener a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, reproduce, transmit, display, and otherwise use that content only as needed to provide, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service and to comply with law.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to:

  • Break the law, facilitate fraud, or violate another person's rights or privacy
  • Distribute spam, phishing, malware, harmful code, deceptive redirects, or other abusive content
  • Impersonate a person or organization or misrepresent a destination
  • Infringe intellectual-property, publicity, or other protected rights
  • Probe, scan, exploit, overload, disrupt, or bypass controls on the Service
  • Circumvent plan limits, rate limits, authentication, abuse controls, or access restrictions
  • Use automated requests or integrations in a way that harms the Service or other users

We may block, disable, or investigate links, files, accounts, API keys, or other content when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security, legal, platform-policy, or operational concerns.

5. Public links, QR codes, and files

Short links, QR destinations, profile pages, and other published content may be accessible to anyone who has the relevant URL or code. You are responsible for checking what a link or QR code points to before publishing or printing it.

Deleting, expiring, disabling, or changing an account, link, file, or QR asset may make an existing destination stop working or change where it leads. This includes QR codes already printed on packaging, signs, or other materials. TheShortener does not guarantee that a third-party destination will remain available, accurate, secure, or compatible.

6. Analytics and privacy

The Service may collect and process account, usage, device, redirect, and security information as described in the Privacy Policy. Analytics are estimates based on available request and device signals and may not identify every visitor or represent exact real-world activity.

7. APIs and integrations

API access, browser extensions, Shopify, and other integrations may be subject to separate documentation, limits, permissions, or provider terms. Keep API keys and integration credentials confidential, and use them only for your authorized account and permitted purpose. We may rotate, revoke, rate-limit, or restrict credentials when needed for security, abuse prevention, or service operation.

TheShortener Links Shopify app is intended to use the read-only product access described in the Privacy Policy. It does not request Shopify customer, order, checkout, payment, or billing data through that integration. Shopify merchants remain responsible for their Shopify account, store content, and compliance with Shopify's terms and policies.

8. Paid plans and payment

Paid plans and features are subject to the pricing, plan limits, billing frequency, and other terms shown during checkout or in your account. A plan may renew automatically where the checkout or plan states that it does. Use the available account or payment-provider controls to cancel before the next renewal when you do not want to continue.

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. The provider may handle payment details and retain transaction records under its own terms, privacy policy, and legal obligations. TheShortener may receive plan, subscription, payment-status, and transaction information needed to provide paid features, support billing, prevent fraud, and comply with law.

Cancellation may change or end access to paid features. It does not by itself delete an account or its data. Refunds, where available, are handled according to the checkout terms, the applicable payment-provider rules, and applicable law.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to all or part of the Service when reasonably necessary for non-payment, abuse, security, legal compliance, platform-policy compliance, or protection of the Service and its users.

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion through the Data Deletion instructions. Termination or deletion may revoke API keys, cancel applicable subscriptions, and make links, QR codes, files, or profiles unavailable. Some records may be retained for security, fraud prevention, disputes, accounting, legal compliance, or recovery as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, its software, design, trademarks, documentation, and materials are owned by or licensed to TheShortener and are protected by applicable law. These Terms give you permission to use the Service for its intended purpose; they do not transfer ownership of TheShortener intellectual property to you.

11. Third-party services

The Service may link to or depend on third-party websites, authentication providers, hosting, analytics, payment, storage, or integration services. Third-party services are controlled by their own terms and policies. TheShortener is not responsible for third-party content, availability, security, or practices.

12. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an as-available and as-is basis. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, or suitable for every purpose. You are responsible for maintaining copies of content and destinations that you need to keep.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, TheShortener will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, traffic, or business arising from or related to the Service or these Terms. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the Service, our practices, or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version and revision date on this page. Continued use of the Service after an update means that the updated Terms apply to your continued use, subject to applicable law.
